Land Rover Series for sale in Dorset

1976-Land-Rover-Series-for-sale-in-Dorset_4190

Fuel: Petrol
Drive side: RHD

1976 Land Rover Series I have for sale a rare Series 3, 6 cylinder 2.6, 109" Land Rover recovery vehicle.

Over the past two years I have stripped it down to nothing and then rebuilt it onto a refurbished chassis. The chassis is very solid and has had several coats of rust preventative black paint.

I have also installed a brand new galvanised bulkhead, which removes several of the problems usually associated with older Land Rovers, namely rusting door pillars or footwells.

The doors are off the original, and as such have some corrosion on the underside although apart from this they are fine. They have had new fabric runners installed and I have put in new door top to bottom rubbers. Also, new locks.

The seats are original, and so they're starting to look tired, although they still serve their purpose! (Seatbelts are fitted on all three seats in the front.)

The door mirror on the passenger door side has a crack in it, (I've switched them since the photos were taken).

The vehicle is fitted with a Harvey Frost crane, fixed to the chassis with U bolts, however, it doesn't come with extra chains or clips, all there is is photographed.

All the electrics work fine. New, plastic head light cups have been fitted too, along with sidelights and indicators.

The car is not 100% waterproof but is good at keeping most of it out. Recently we had some torrential rain and it leak slightly in a few areas.

The body work is original but solid, although there are a couple of small holes on the wings where the bonnet rubs. The undersides of the wheel arches have been given a protective coat of Waxoyl as has the underside of the petrol tank.

The car has been fitted with a WARN winch on the front, which runs off the battery and has a hand control which must be plugged into the top of the winch and is stored under the passenger seat.

The engine has had a new head gasket fitted as well as gaskets on the exhaust, valve covers and carburettor. The engine runs well and smoothly. It has a new exhaust system fitted excluding the silencer which was fine.

There are two brand new tyres on the rear, and the two on the front are in very good condition. The spare is the same size and in good nick, but has a different tread pattern to the other 4.

Other parts that have been replaced are:
- Floor Pans
- Leaf Spring Bushes
- Bonnet rest strip
- Front Panel
- Front and rear shocks
- Check Straps
- Mud Guards
- Steering Box Cover
- Engine oil pipes
- Windscreen Washers
- Door hinge gaskets and bolts
- Vent rubbers,
- Dash board top and bottom
- Ignition switch, battery and heater and dip switch
- Gear stick knob.

The vehicle also has a work light fitted to the rear of the cab and and orange flashing light on top. The car also has fittings for orange 'ears' on top of the cab (I was unable to find replacements). And the car also has fog lights mounted on the front.

Finally, the Land Rover is MOT'd until 11/08/12 and is currently SORNed (as I haven't had to drive it on the public highway). It will need to be taxed and insured.

Thank you for your interest.

Asking price: £3000 ono
